Another double win for Dominik Paris

Dominik Paris seems unbeatable at the moment, as he takes a fifth World Cup podium of the season at the Audi FIS Ski World Cup super-g in Kvitfjell. Local hero Kjetil Jansrud takes second and Switzerland’s Beat Feuz finishes third.

The Italian Dominik Paris is the man to beat in the speed disciplines this season. He started with two podiums in North America and followed up with a double win Bormio. Then he won the downhill in Kitzbuehel and finished 3rd in the super-g. At the World Championships, he earned his first gold medal in the super-g. Before earning another double win in Kvitfjell this week-end. All in all, a fantastic season, where he leads the super-g standings by 44 points going into the World Cup Finals.

In second position, Kjetil Jansrud scores his 11th podium on his home track in Kvitfjell. The Norwegian grew up in area and has skied the Olympiabakken so many times that he knows every inch of the terrain. And in a season marked with ups and downs, he was able to hold on to the pressure and earn a podium placement in today’s super-g. With his win in Lake Louise and his third place in Val Gardena Gröden, Jansrud still has a mathematical chance (64 points behind Paris) to clinch the super-g globe that he has won in 2015, 2017 and 2018.

Yesterday, Beat Feuz wasn’t very confident about his super-g skiing and said that he wasn’t where he wanted to be technically, but today he managed to score his first World Cup podium of the season in this discipline. The fast course setting by Italy helped him to find the feeling again. Also Feuz has always been very confident in Kvitfjell, as this is the place where he recorded his first World Cup win and now has nine podiums.

The men’s World Cup Tour now moves to Kranjska Gora for a penultimate week-end of ski racing, with a giant slalom and a slalom on the program on 9th-10th March.
