Before the traditional FIS spring meetings, Club 5 held its bi-annual workshop gathering its 16 members in Portoroz, with the goal to exchange ideas and discuss important topics related to the organisation of a World Cup event.

This year included general discussions on the future of the World Cup, as seen by various stakeholders. Special attention was given to the issues related to the costs of manpower, internet connection at the venue, course preparation and how to keep a local touch while maintaining a World Cup standard.

Another highlight was  the presentation from Hans Peter Steinacher, Director Red Bull Youth America's Cup, who talked about the evolution of the event and questions linked to event organization. It was a great opportunity to learn from other sports.

In the past years, the organisation has become more important and represents the interests of the FIS Alpine World Cup organisers. Currently, it includes the following 16 classic World Cup organisers: Kitzbühel, Wengen, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Val d’Isère, Val Gardena Gröden, Alta Badia, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Kranjska Gora, Maribor, Lake Louise, Schladming, Adelboden, Kvitfjell, St.Moritz, Are and Zagreb, as well as Crans-Montana as an affiliated member. Together with about ten representatives from FIS, over 50 members of Organising Committees were attending the workshop this spring.
