In the super-g, Anna Veith was the fastest and claimed her first Olympic gold medal. She is currently recovering from different knee problems but should be back on her skis next season.

German super star Maria Hoefl-Riesch rocked the alpine combined and claimed a third Olympic gold medal, to crown an impressive career. She is now retired and moderating for the German TV.

Tina Maze doubled up and after the downhill, she also claimed a second Olympic the title in the giant slalom.

At 18 years and 345 days, young slalom queen Mikaela Shiffrin stayed ahead of all her contenders and became the youngest athlete to win the Olympic slalom.

On the men’s side, with no World Cup win under his belt at that point, Matthias Mayer surprised everyone and earned the downhill title.

The super-g went to a Norwegian, but not to Aksel Lund Svindal who has been dominating the speed disciplines in that season, but to teammate Kjetil Jansrud, The runner-up in the Norwegian team was now skiing at his best level and earned a deserved Olympic Champion title.

With Sandro Viletta, a surprise winner took the alpine combined gold medal, as the Swiss speed athlete had only one World Cup win from Beaver Creek 2011 to his name.

In the giant slalom, one of the two season dominators also took the Olympic title; it’s Ted Ligety. Currently, the American is recovering from a serie of health setbacks, but he should be back for the Olympic season, as he has been seen on his skis for summer training lately.

The legend Mario Matt was the winner of the Olympic slalom in Sochi 2014. He retired two seasons ago, but his two runner-ups in the Olympic slalom Marcel Hirscher and Henrik Kristoffersen are in the starting blocks to claim the title next season.
