Loic Meillard of Switzerland stood on top of the podium in alpine combined on 11th March 2017 in Are (SWE), exactly two years after winning the same event at the FIS Alpine Junior World Ski Championships in Hafjell (NOR).

The 20-year old sat in fourth place after the super-G and skied down the fastest slalom run to pick up gold. Silver and bronze went to River Radamus (USA) and Georg Hegele (GER) who finished 1.54 and 1.59 seconds off the pace respectively.

“To win this event for the second time at Junior World Championships means a lot to me. This is my final year and I hope I can return in two year’s time for the senior World Championships. It is definitely my goal! Are is a great place and the Organisers have done an outstanding job”, the happy winner commented following the flower ceremony.

Meanwhile, silver medallist Radamus finished tenth in the super-G and backed it up with a fourth place result in slalom. One year ago, Radamus was one of the most successful athletes of the Lillehammer 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games where he claimed gold in super-G, alpine combined and giant slalom. For the 19-year old skier from Vail, the Youth Olympic Games marked a major breakthrough.
