Starting in the new season with new skis

The season didn't end with the last World Cup race for most athletes, and after important weeks of testing, some will go into the Olympic season with new equipment and have changed their ski brand. In the last month, famous globe winners and even a former World Champion announced a change. Here is a look at the most recent changes.

Tina Weirather 
Only a few weeks after collecting her first career globe in the super-G at the Finals in Aspen, Liechtenstein’s Tina Weirather announced that she would join the #worldcuprebels and tackle the Olympic season with Head skis. It may seem risky to make a change after such a successful year with Atomic, but the 27-year-old is convinced, as explained in her Instagram post.

Eva-Maria Brem 
Sidelined for the season due to a lower leg fracture, the 2015/2016 giant slalom title winner Eva-Maria Brem will return to the snow with Fischer skis, instead of extending her contract with Voelkl. The Austrian was already wearing Fischer ski boots before her injury, and is now a full member of the #FischerRaceFamily.

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde 
In Norway, the three top athletes from the speed team are now wearing the same skis, as Aleksander Aamodt Kilde switched to Head, joining teammates Kjetil Jansrud and Aksel Lund Svindal. The young 2015/16 super-G globe winner is thankful for his successful year with Atomic, but considers the #worldcuprebels as the best option for the future.

Jean-Baptiste Grange 
Former World Champion Jean-Baptiste Grange will return to Rossignol, the brand on which he started his career and celebrated a slalom globe (2009), a World Champion title (2011) and 18 World Cup podiums. Going into two important seasons with Olympics and World Championships, the 32-year-old Frenchman wanted to give his career a fresh impetus by changing his supplier for #anotherbestday.

Ramona Siebenhofer 
With Ramona Siebenhofer, the #FischerRaceFamily gained another Austrian skier. The 25-year-old speed specialist left Head for Fischer and hopes to add other World Cup successes to her name, as she did with a 3rd place in Lake Louise in 2015.

Otmar Striedinger 
It’s #TimeToPlay for Austrian Otmar Striedinger with his brand new Salomon skis. After several years with Rossignol, the speed skier is joining teammates Hannes Reichelt and Romed Baumann on the French ski brand.

Steve Missillier 
According to Salomon, giant slalom Olympic medallist Steve Missillier also made the choice to ski on Salomon and give up his Fischer equipment. The 32-year-old Frenchman is hoping to repeat his exploit from Sochi (second in the giant slalom).
