The FIS family is growing
Aug 31, 2018·Alpine SkiingBesides being incredible professionals and laying down outstanding performances, our FIS Alpine athletes also value the time with their respective families. In winter, the busy travel schedule doesn’t offer much space for togetherness, but in summer most athletes are based in their home region and can spend time with their beloved ones.
Since the end of the season, quite a few athletes got married or became parents. Here are the most recent additions to the FIS family. Congratulations to all those athletes, we are very happy for you.
Those two Austrian athletes are celebrating both a wedding and the birth of their little one in summer 2018.
The 7-times Overall Champion Marcel Hirscher got married in June and him and his wife Laura Maeusl are expecting a baby for October.
For Marc Digruber, both events occurred early summer. Shortly after his wedding with long-time girlfriend Jacqueline in April, they became parents of a little boy named Noah at the beginning of July.
Other athletes had the pleasure of welcoming a little one in their family this summer.
Born at the end of June, a little girl named Clea was born to the joy of both her parents, downhill champion Beat Feuz and Katrin Triendls.
Also Italian downhiller Dominik Paris surprisingly announced that him and his girlfriend Kristina became parents of a little Niko at the beginning of July.
Andreas Sander and his wife Julia, who got married last summer, welcomed their first son at the end of July.
A few weddings from FIS alpine athletes were celebrated this summer.
The Overall winner 2016 Lara Gut got married with Switzerland’s football player Valon Behrami mid-July.
Elia Zurbriggen and his wife-to-be Loredana tied the knot mid-Mai.
For those athletes, the wedding is still to come, but they announced their engagement this summer.
In her post season holidays in the Maldives, the slalom Olympic champion Frida Hansdotter got surprised by her boyfriend Richard Jansson and was asked the question. She said yes!
Alice McKennis and Patrick Duran are looking ahead to a lifetime together has they got engaged mid-June.
Dustin Cook asked his long-time girlfriend Abby Ghent to become his wife and she said yes.
Also Nathalie Eklund got engaged in May.
Our last announcement comes from the freshly retired Slovakian slalom queen Veronika Velez Zuzulova. She and her husband Romain are awaiting the birth of their first child.
