Let the speed season start in Lake Louise!

After the postponement of the official snow control day, the speed events in Lake Louise (CAN) were confirmed. An Audi FIS Ski World Cup men’s downhill will be held on 24th November, followed by a super-G on 25th November.

Race Director Hannes Trinkl came straight from his inspection of the 2022 Olympic downhill in China and was on site in Lake Louise to evaluate the amount and quality of the snow in Lake Louise. "While the situation was on the edge on Saturday, the efforts of the organising committee and the favorable forecast allowed  us to give the green light to the speed season opening in Lake Louise", said Trinkl. Despite mild weather during the day, the temperatures drop below zero during the nights, which allowed a fair amount of man-made snow and a good preparation of the World Cup track.

“We have been working since early fall to put all the pieces in place to welcome the world to Lake Louise for the opening men’s speed races of the 2018/19 season. The efforts of our race organizing committee, our Sled Dog volunteers, the Net Monkeys and the entire team at the Lake Louise Ski Resort means we will be race ready,” declared Darrell MacLachlan, Chief of Race, Men, Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup.

Two days after the slaloms in Levi (FIN), Lake Louise also got the green light for its men’s speed events on 24th-25th November 2018. Directly after the slalom opening, the World Cup will travel to Canada to kick off the speed season.
