Successful inspection at Crans-Montana
Oct 06, 2018·Alpine SkiingAhead of the winter season, the International Ski Federation held its annual inspection of the World Cup Crans-Montana site on Wednesday 12th September 2018.
Two European Cup downhills (16th-17th February) and two ladies' World Cup races (downhill on 23rd February and alpine combined on 24th February) are on the schedule for the approaching season.
The inspection was led by FIS Alpine Ladies' Chief Race Director Atle Skaardal and his colleagues along with organizing committee President Marius Roby and his staff. Representatives from the Swiss Ski Federation and Swiss television, broadcaster of the World Cup in Crans-Montana including European Broadcasting Union personnel, were also present.
The crew focused on the inspection of the Mont Lachaux race course where they analyzed key sections, the TV positions, and various start areas. Other important topics were discussed such as snow preparation, the number of snow guns, safety installations, the media center, accommodation, the public draw, and official prize giving ceremonies. The procedures for the European Cup races were reviewed in conjunction with new FIS Coordinator Wim Rossel.
All of the participants were very positive, and constructive discussions came out of the intense but beautiful work day.
