Hannah Saethereng brought home the first Norwegian victory in the ladies’ SuperG of the Junior World Ski Championships.

Thanks to a neat and flawless performance, the young athlete was able to conquer, with a time of 1’14’’54, the first place on the podium. The Austrian Julia Scheib instead had to settle with her second place, with her performance influenced by a little but significant mistake on the final wall of the slope La Volata on Passo San Pellegrino. Whereas, the Swiss skier Lindy Etzensperger, with an interval of 20 hundredths from Saethereng, conquered a respectable bronze medal.

Due to the cancellation of the race, which should have taken place on Friday, today’s SuperG also stood in as the first round of the alpine combined, with the slalom on the Aloch slope of Pozza di Fassa in the afternoon.

During the race, clouds increasingly intensified, which made the competition on the harsh slope La Volata even more complicated.

On the 4th place follows the Swiss Noemie Kolly (+0’’23), then the American Keely Cashman (+0’’38), the French Madeleine Chirat (+0’’47), the Austrian Nadine Fest (+0’’64) and the German Katrin Hirtl Stanggassinger (+0’’89). In the top ten: the Swiss Staphanie Jenal (+0’’93) and Nicole Good (+1’’00). While the American AJ Hurt and the Swiss Juliana Suter did not manage to conclude the competition.

It’s an unexpected victory: although I did a satisfying round, I did not think I could really achieve the podium and above all conquer the gold medal.Hannah Saethereng (NOR)
I’m proud of my 2nd place but I can’t deny that the huge mistake made on the final wall of the slope highly influenced my performance.Julia Scheib (AUT)
In the first part of the race I did pretty well but then I made few mistakes. However, I was able to gain a medal. Lindy Etzensperger (SUI)
