After days of beautiful blue bird skies, the weather in Bansko turned unfavorable for a speed ski race today. Approximately 30 centimeters of fresh snow covered the course overnight and the snowfall is set to continue throughout the morning hours.

In these conditions, impossible to race a super-g. The jury, together with the Organising Committee and the Bulgarian Ski Associations had to accept that a safe and fair race was not possible in Bansko today and cancelled the super-g.

With the tight calendar until the end of the season, the super-g will not be rescheduled and replaced.

Tomorrow, a giant slalom is on the schedule. With the weather situation calming down during the day, it looks promising to hold the 6th giant slalom of the season. Which is important, because earlier this season, the Garmisch-Partenkirchen giant slalom had to be cancelled as well and unfortunately no replacement could be found for that race.
