During the Audi FIS Ski World Cup downhill race in Beaver Creek, Germany’s Thomas Dressen caught an edge and crashed heavily into the safety nets. He was transported to Vail Valley Medical Center, where a tear of his anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments in his right knee were diagnosed, in addition to a dislocated shoulder.

The winner of the downhills in Kitzbuehel and Kvitfjell will miss the entire 2018/19 season, including the World Championships in Åre. He will also miss the chance to defend his 3rd place in the downhill standings of 2017/18.

Four days after the crash, Thomas Dressen underwent surgery in Munich and affirmed on his social media channels that it was successful. His injury is his first major physical setback in career and the 25-year-old German skier already turned his focus to the rehabilitation to come back even stronger.

We wish him a full and quick recovery and are looking forward to see him on skis and on the World Cup Tour again.
