Cortina 2021 launches charity auction to support Belluno hospital in fight against COVID-19
Apr 01, 2020·Alpine SkiingFondazione Cortina 2021 takes action to help the hospital of Belluno.
After the cancellation of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals 2020 — which were to take place from 18th to 22nd March 2020 — due to the Coronavirus spread, Cortina 2021 has decided to offer its support by launching the campaign ‘Cortina 2021 per Belluno – I Trofei delle Finali di Coppa del mondo per fare del bene’ (Cortina 2021 for Belluno – The World Cup Finals Trophies to do good). Thanks to this fundraising campaign, all ski lovers will have the opportunity to get the trophies that would have been awarded to the World Cup Finals winners. The goal of this fundraising campaign is to support the hospital of Belluno – AULSS 1 Dolomiti, which is on the front line of the fight against Covid-19.
The prizes are fourteen beautiful handmade glass plates crafted — continuing the historical tradition of the Cortina Classic — by Pio Alverà, one of the most renowned local craft workshops, which uses resins and other natural and local materials for its creations. Each plate is a unique piece and bears the words ‘Cortina 2020 Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals’ with the name of one of the disciplinesthat were to be held in Cortina.
The auction will take place from Tuesday 31st March to Thursday 9th April and will be held on CharityStars, an Italian digital platform dedicated to raising funds through online auctions. The starting auction price for each item is 50 euros. All ski lovers thus have the unique opportunity to get one of the special World Cup Finals trophies and help raise funds for a good cause.
