New Austrian double: – I love Narvik

Magdalena Egger and Lisa Grill are so far the names to really remember from the 2020 FIS alpine Junior World Champiomships

The two Austrian women won the gold and silver medals in downhill on Saturday and followed up with another one-two showing in the super-G on Sunday.

Egger is so far the queen of the championship with two gold medals. In the Super-G she finished 0,28 seconds before her teammate.

French Karen Clement finished third – only 0.01 seconds behind Lisa Grill.

Egger simply said after the race, “I love Narvik!”

“I can’t believe these results. Now my goal is to come back here in 2027, if Narvik hosts the senior championship,”  Egger continued.

Men
Also an Austrian Double

The Austrian men did as the Austrian ladies in the Super-G, taking home both gold and silver medals.

Stefan Rieser won the race 0.51 seconds ahead of Armin Dornauer.

“An amazing day. I´m so happy,” said the new world champion tells.

This was his second medal in the championship – after finishing third in downhill.

“The combination of mountain and sea is unbeatable. I hope to be able to be in Narvik in 2027 when the city hopefully is the host of the World Championship for seniors.”

Host nation Norway took their fourth 4th place so far in the championship. Casper Kindem ending 0.16 behind Swiss bronze medalist Yannick Chabloz.
