Pepi Ferstl and Dominik Paris receive the Hahnenkamm gondola

Josef Burger, the Chairman of the Executive Board of Bergbahn AG Kitzbühel, handed over to Pepi Ferstl (GER) and Dominik Paris (ITA), the 2019 Hahnenkamm Super G and Downhill winners, "their" Hahnenkamm's gondola. The ceremony, held Saturday 3rd of August, was warm and full of emotions and memories. Pepi's father, Sepp, who won the most famous World Cup's downhill 40 years ago, was very proud to be there with his son. On the other hand, for “Domme” Paris it was the fourth victory at the Hahnenkamm so the fourth gondola and he can be absolutely defined a veteran of this special handover.

Michael Huber, KSC President and Chairman of the Hahnenkamm Races, was pleased with the great interest and the many friends, fans and media present, included Felix Neureuther and Marco Büchel, who already received their gondola respectively in 2014 and 2008: "It is always a special honor to welcome the athletes here!" Felix and Marco did not want to miss the handover to Ferstl and Paris. Sepp Ferstl, who won twice Hahnenkamm’s Downhill in 1978 and 1979, said, "It's a special experience, particularly if your son wins the Hahnenkamm!"

The President of Kitzbühel Tourism, Signe Reisch, and Kitzbühel's mayor, Klaus Winkler,  also welcomed those present. At the end of the ceremony, Josef Burger took the chance to hand over a special award to DSV coach Wolfi Maier for his commitment. Maier said: "I am totally surprised and I would like to say that I accept this award on behalf of the entire coaching team." Once again it was a successful celebration and handover, and everyone shouted: "Next year again!"
