Walter Reusser new Alpine Director of Swiss-Ski

Swiss-Ski has appointed Walter Reusser as new Alpine Director. Reusser, previously Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Stöckli Swiss Sports AG, succeeds to Stéphane Cattin, who resigned in June.

"With Walter Reusser, we have have found a proven expert with extensive experience as a senior manager, as well as a profound expert in alpine skiing for Swiss-Ski," said Bernhard Aregger, who will be leading operations at Swiss-Ski as new CEO from November 1. "With his additional experience as a former alpine coach and his strong communication skills, Walter Reusser has all the prerequisites to successfully develop alpine ski racing in Switzerland."

Swiss-Ski President Urs Lehmann said: "We have taken the necessary time in selecting the replacement of such a strategically important position like the one of Alpine Director. However, it quickly became clear to us that Walter Reusser best met our demanding requirements. We had many constructive discussions over the past few weeks and are happy to have found our desired solution for Swiss-Ski with Reusser."

The 43-year-old Alpine Director has worked for the Swiss ski brand Stöckli since 2005. Initially, he was Head of Racing for four years, then Head of Ski Division, Brand Director and Winter Sports Director. From 2018, Reusser was responsible for the operational management of the Ski Business Unit at Stöckli as Chief Operating Officer at the company headquarters in Malters, Lucerne. In recent years, Reusser was also a member of the management of Stöckli Swiss Sports AG in various functions. Under Reusser, Stöckli won 22 World Cup races and 11 Olympic medals. Also Tina Maze’s World Cup points record (2414 points in the 2012/13 season) took place during his era at Stöckli.

Reusser comes back to Swiss-Ski after 14 years. Between 2001 and 2005, the new Alpine Director of the Swiss Ski Federation had been active as a coach at the European Cup level, previously working as a service man from the end of the 1990s.

"In the various discussions with Swiss-Ski, I felt great professionalism and a strong will to succeed, which is totally in line with my own view and convinced me straight away. I am very much looking forward to promoting the future of Swiss skiing alongside a motivated team, "said the new Alpine Director Walter Reusser, who will also be a member of the Swiss-Ski Executive Board as of December.
