For the third year, the AIJS Photo Ski contest crowned the best photo from the Audi Alpine FIS World Cup tour. Traditionally, the award is presented at the FIS Alpine Forum at the start of the season, however, due to Covid-19 regulations, the award from the 2019-20 season was presented today at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Cortina.

Giovanni Auletta, an Italian photographer for Pentaphoto, was named the winner of the third edition of the AIJS Photo Ski Contest Prix Armando Trovati for his photograph of Christine Scheyer (AUT) at the Women’s Downhill in Bansko (BUL) on January 24, 2020.

11 photographs were also selected for the annual exhibition: Gabriele Facciotti (Pentaphoto/AP), Alexis Boichard (Zoom), Lisi Niesner (Reuters), Gianpaolo Piazzi, Leonhard Foeger (Reuters), Alain Grosclaude (Zoom), Christophe Pallot (Zoom), Sébastien Boué (L'Equipe), Christian Bruna (EPA-EFE) and Giovanni Pizzato.

The Jury of five members selected the winning photos from more than 25 entries. The Jury members this year were: Aksel Lund Svindal, AIJS President, Patrick Lang, International Agency Rep. Beatrice Larco (Associated Press), Alessandro and Marco Trovati, (to keep the spirit of their father – 1 vote) and Jurg Capol, representing FIS.

Thank you to all photographers who entered the competition. We look forward to the fourth edition of the award next year.
