2022 Women’s Giant Slalom World Cup Final

In a fight for the women’s giant slalom globe, Sara Hector (SWE), Tessa Worley (FRA), Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) and Petra Vlhova (SVK) were all fighting for bragging rights.

Putting down an exceptional first run time of 1:06.32, Shiffrin, who already secured the Overall Title, led the pack by 0.82 seconds. Sitting in second place was Federica Brignone (ITA), followed by Ragnhild Mowinckel (NOR). Local hero, Tessa Worley ended the first run well off the pace in eighth place with a 1.60-second deficit.

Shiffrin faltered in the second run, ending in seventh place, losing her chance at the small globe. Hector also had a disappoiniting second run and finished in 14th, opening up the opportunity for the rest of the field

The Italians pounced on the opportunity. Frederica Brignone claimed her first giant slalom victory of the season, while Marta Bassino (ITA) fiished in second place, 0.31 seconds behind ther teammate. The slalom globe winner Vlhova, finished in third place to claim her fifth giant slalom podium of the season.

Meanwhile in the hunt for the small globe, Worley’s fourth-place finish secured her enough points to claim the women’s giant slalom globe in front of a home crowd.
