Joan Verdú is the newly crowned winner of the European Cup (EC) giant slalom overall this season.

The Andorran got celebrated as a local hero from the crowd. Apart from the EC overall victory (484 points), Verdú also managed to finish the race on home soil today in 3rd place. However, Joan Verdú will leave a mark in the history of alpine skiing in the Pyrenees.

Regarding today's race, Verdú said:

"I have shown good skiing today and for me it was a great experience. A podium at home, at the finals, is a satisfactory result that culminates a great season for me after a period with bad injuries".Joan Verdu - EC Giant Slalom Winner 2022
