Women's debut in the Grandvalira European Cup Finals.

The giant slalom event of the piste Avet was the first in the women's category to be held on the Andorran slopes after the cancellation of the downhill and super-G events due to the adverse weather conditions. The Swiss Simone Wild was the winner of the race and also won the giant slalom overall in the European Cup (EC). After an amazing first run leading with more than a second in advance of the rest, the experienced Wild, managed the pressure on her shoulders and skied a strong clean win in 1:52.21. Switzerland swept today’s podium thanks to a stunning team performance with Jasmina Suter in second + 0.30sec and Vivianne Härri in third place with +0.73sec.

On top of her podium today, Härri managed to take the 2nd place in the giant slalom EC overall behind this season’s and today’s EC giant slalom queen, while the Austrian Nina Astner claimed the 3rd position in the EC giant slalom ranking. Astner overtook her teammate Elisa Mörzinger in the very last race of the season by one single point.

,,I am very happy with today's results and the season as a whole actually. The conditions on the track were really good today. That was a positive surprise and I didn’t expect that. The Swissski team did a spectacular job today and I enjoyed racing so much.’’ Simone Wild - European Cup Winner Giant Slalom 21/22

During the women’s giant slalom, the El Tarter Áliga slope hosted a training sessions for the men's downhill race taking place on Sunday tomorrow. Yesterday an unprecedented effort was made by the organizers, the coaches and the athletes to be able to recover the track affected by the weather in the past three days.
