Generation Z - The future stars

In 2020 we saw the start of the Generation Z series, which highlighted some of the most talented young skiers who had already achieved big results in past seasons. This year we continue with the series and introduce to you, some new talented athletes who have also accomplished top results and athletes you will surely soon see throughout the World Cup in the coming years.

Cassidy Gray, CAN
Canadian racer, Cassidy Gray, made a name for herself on the big stage last season by qualifying for the second round in her first ever World Cup race. She also raced at the 2021 FIS World Ski Championships in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, where she came 23rd in the Giant Slalom. Aspiring up to the legendary Lindsey Vonn, will Cassidy follow in her foot steps?

Lukas Feurstein, AUT
Born in 2001, Austrian skier, Lukas Feurstein, took home the title of “FIS Junior World Champion” in Giant Slalom event last year, which has so far been his proudest achievement. He also came second in the Super G event at the 2021 FIS Junior World Championship which took place in Bansko, Bulgaria. Finishing 19th his first GS World Cup race last year in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, Lukas’ dream is to win a Crystal Globe, will he be able to achieve this?

Hanna Aronsson Elfman**, SWE**
Hanna won gold at the 2021 Junior World Championships in the Giant Slalom and secured fourth in the Super G. She also competed in the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics where she represented Sweden in Slalom, Giant Slalom and Team Parallel. Her dream is to win a medal at the Olympics, surely following in the footsteps of Olympic gold medallist, Frida Hansdotter, who is also Hanna’s inspiration.

Filippo Della Vite**, ITA**
Already making his debut on the World Cup scene in 2021, Filippo finished 16th in Giant Slalom at the World Cup held in Bansko, Bulgaria. Following this, he won the Italian National Championships in both Slalom and Giant Slalom. His dream is to win the Giant Slalom Crystal Globe, and it looks like he’s on the right path to one day get it!

Sophie Mathiou, ITA
Winning gold in Slalom and the 2021 Junior World Ski Championships, Sophie, is setting herself up nicely to achieve her lifetime ambition, winning on the World Cup circuit. Already having competed in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, during the 2021 season and placing 19th in Slalom, Sophie is not unfamiliar with the World Cup circuit.

Giovanni Franzoni, ITA
Fan of all disciplines, but with a preference for Giant Slalom, competed in both the 2021 FIS Junior World Championships and the 2021 FIS World Ski Championships. At the FIS Junior World Championships, he won the Super G and came second in the Giant Slalom. At the FIS World Ski Championships, he came an impressive 14th! Where can we expect to see him this season?
