Sara Hector (SWE) had the second race of her life today.

From the first run, she imposed her power and physicality on this slope which is not very forgiving. Almost perfect, she took the lead in this giant slalom race ahead of Tessa Worley (FRA) and Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) in the first run.

The Swede skier forgot about the pressure to start in the last position three hours later, still in attack mode. With a solid and precise ski and a great mind, the Swede achieved a remarkable feat by improving Mikaela Shiffrin's time and, on the verge of tears, seven years after her only World Cup success, she did it again.

Marta Bassino (ITA), winner of the globe in the discipline last season, who had a great second run, took third place at 0.60sec. The Italian was also pleased and finally got her first podium of the winter.

Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) increased her lead in the giant slalom standings to 78 points over Hector with today's second place.
The American also built on her lead the overall, to 115 points over Italian Sofia Goggia, who failed to finish for the second straight day.

Next week, the women's World Cup continues with another GS and slalom in Lienz, Austria.
