Garmisch-Partenkirchen staged the last World Cup chapter before the long-awaited Beijing Olympics.

Corinne Suter (SUI) won her fourth World Cup race on the same slope, where she took her only victory in the Super-G. The Swiss skier put in a clean and precise downhill run with more direct lines than the others and won by 51 hundredths over her teammate Jasmine Flury (SUI).

Jasmine Flury achieved the second podium in her career and the first in downhill four years apart. Sharing this result with her teammate and friend has a special meaning.

Another podium worth a win is that of Cornelia Huetter (AUT). The start of the season has been challenging for the Austrian ski star, and today she finally managed to return to the top 3 after her podium in Lake Louise in 2018.

Among the significant absentees of the weekend are Sofia Goggia (ITA) and Breezy Johnson (USA), both injured during the week in Cortina d'Ampezzo. For the American champion, there is no hope of a return for the Olympics, while the Olympic gold medallist and leader of the downhill ranking there is still hope of seeing her at the start.

Suter moved into the second spot in the downhill standings, although she is still 69 points behind Goggia. There is a super-G scheduled for Sunday.
