Swiss World Cup events to be held with spectators
Oct 15, 2021·Alpine SkiingSwiss World Cup events in the various snowsport disciplines will be open to spectators in the 2021/22 season. Access to all events is reserved for people who have been vaccinated, cured of Covid-19 or tested negative for the coronavirus. Swiss-Ski and the Swiss World Cup organisers are looking forward to welcoming many snow sports enthusiasts to these top-class competitions once again.
For this second World Cup season in a difficult environment, the main objective of Swiss-Ski and the organisers is to ensure that the competitions run smoothly. The public and with it the unique atmosphere of the events will make a comeback during the competitions in the disciplines of alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, snowboarding, skicross, freeskiing and telemark skiing. However, the aim is to keep the health risks for all those involved to a minimum. As things stand, access to the competition and event sites will be restricted to people with a Covid-19 certificate (vaccinated, Covid-19 cured or coronavirus negative).
In addition to the fan stands, such as the famous grandstand in the finish area in Adelboden, the public will be able to enjoy the Fan Villages, such as the popular World Cup Village in Wengen, as well as the VIP hospitality services and party tents at the various venues. In addition, it is planned that the official ceremonies will once again be attended by the public. The organisers will soon be launching or have already started advance ticket sales via their usual channels.
"The Covid-19 certificate requirement that has been in force for a few weeks for events in other sports has proved its worth. We are therefore optimistic about the 2021/22 World Cup season and are very much looking forward to enabling spectators to attend World Cup events in Switzerland again. Together with the organisers, we want to offer the public unforgettable moments", says Hannes Hofer, Director of Swiss-Ski Weltcup-Marketing AG.
Swiss-Ski and the organisers of the World Cup events in Switzerland will remain in close contact with the cantonal and federal authorities. Adjustments to the spectator concept are possible depending on the development of the pandemic in Switzerland.
