2024-2025 Alpine Ski Team Announcements: Italy, Canada, and Sweden

As summer preparation is already underway, the last federations have unveiled their teams for the 2024-2025 winter season.

Italy, Canada, and Sweden have each announced their selections, showcasing a blend of veteran athletes and emerging talents.

These final announcements mark the culmination of strategic planning and training efforts aimed at achieving excellence in the upcoming competitive season. Here’s an overview of the latest team compositions.

FISI Announces Their Teams for the 2024-2025 Season

The Italian Ski Federation (FISI) has confirmed the composition of its women's and men's alpine skiing teams for the upcoming 2024-2025 season. The selections reflect a blend of seasoned athletes and new talents, guided by experienced technical staff.

Women's Alpine Skiing Team

The elite women's team, under the leadership of head coach Gianluca Rulfi, remains unchanged. The team consists of four top athletes:

• Marta Bassino

• Federica Brignone

• Elena Curtoni

• Sofia Goggia

They will be supported by a team of four technicians:

• Daniele Simoncelli

• Davide Brignone

• Paolo Stefanini

• Luca Agazzi

The World Cup women's team includes athletes Nadia and Nicol Delago, Roberta Melesi, and Laura Pirovano. They are joined by up-and-coming skiers Vicky Bernardi, Teresa Runggaldier, and Sara Thaler.

Italian Men's Alpine Skiing Team

Under the technical direction of Max Carca, the men's alpine skiing team sees few changes for the new season. The most notable update is the retirement of Giuliano Razzoli and the addition of Stefano Gross, who will join the team starting in October.

The speed team consists of eight athletes:

The tech team consists of four athletes:

Alpine Canada has revealed the athletes nominated to the Canadian Ski Team for the 2024-2025 season.

The selections align with the Made for Canada Strategic Plan, which focuses on preparing athletes for the 2026 and 2030 Olympic Winter Games.

Introduction of CAST D and National Next Gen

To accelerate the development of young athletes, Alpine Canada is introducing a new tier in the national team structure. This tier, the Canadian Alpine Ski Team (CAST) D, will focus on U21 and some U24 athletes with podium potential, competing in the Continental Cup level (Nor-Am & Europa Cup) and World Junior Championships. 

John Kucera, Men’s Alpine Head Coach, expressed excitement about the CAST D team and the upcoming season, highlighting the athletes' hard work and the staff's commitment to their journey to the podium.

Ski Team Sweden Alpine: Team selection 2024/2025

For the upcoming season, Ski Team Sweden Alpine consists of established stars such as Sara Hector, Anna Swenn Larsson and Kristoffer Jakobsen and young skiers who are ready to take the next step. The 2024/2025 season will also see changes to the team, staff and organisation.

21 skiers have been selected for the national alpine team for 2024/2025 in a mix of established World Cup skiers and younger skiers who are about to take the next step in their careers. Ski Team Sweden Alpine looks back on a season of strong results with Sara Hector finishing third in the Giant Slalom Cup while Kristoffer Jakobsen and Anna Swenn Larsson finished with top results.

The European Cup men secured their best ranking in over a decade and with World Cup points from William Hansson and Fabian Ax Swartz, Sweden has two more World Cup starts. Three European Cup women finished in the top 30 in slalom and giant slalom, with Lisa Nyberg's sixth place in giant slalom and Moa Boström Müssener's fifth place in slalom being the most prominent overall placings.
