Kober and Loch also fit for Lackenhof

Just one day after Snowboard Austria announced the return of Benjamin Karl to the World Cup slopes coming back from an ankle injury suffered about five weeks ago, Snowboard Germany also confirmed the comeback of Amelie Kober and Cheyenne Loch. Both race ladies will start in Lackenhof, Austria this weekend.
Kober and Loch are both looking back on long years of fighting several injuries with Kober finally getting ready for her first World Cup race since Winterberg back in March, 2015.
Ever since, the 30-year-old mother suffered seven injuries. She underwent two hand surgeries in 2015 and 2017, three surgeries to repair her right ACL in 2015, one to fix the cartilage damage in her left knee in 2016 plus the one following her ankle injury last November.
“I'm happy that I'm finally able to compete again. I'm very grateful for all the support over the past weeks, and I'm really looking forward to this coming weekend,” Kober said.
While the two-time Olympic medallist therefore once again impressed with her comeback skills to at least get a chance to fight for a national Olympic spot – it would be her fourth Olympics in PyeongChang – her teammate Cheyenne Loch is also able to throw in her hat in the ring aiming for her career's first Olympics.
The 23-year-old might have had less of a World Cup break with her last big competition being the 2017 World Championships where she placed fourth in the PSL but three knee surgeries in two years have also left their marks.
“The last two years have been hard for me, physically and mentally. So I'm very grateful that I get the chance to race again this year,” explained Loch.
