The second competition day at the FIS Snowboard Junior World Championships in Lachtal (AUT) went in the books in extraordinary fashion as Russia’s Sofia Nadyrshina and Dmitry Loginov doubled up with their second gold medals in Austria, this time taking wins in parallel giant slalom.

Once again the conditions on the course in Lachtal were just perfect with mild temperatures and blue skies providing a perfect backdrop for what turned out to be an exciting showcase of finest snowboard carving.

On the women’s side it was Sofia Nadyrshina, who repeated her Saturday’s gold performance from PSL event and reached the top spot once again in Sunday’s PSG competition. For the second time this weekend 17-year-old Nadyrshina managed to edge out Japan’s Tsubaki Miki in the big final matchup, earning her second victory in two days in Lachtal. Consequently it was also the second silver medal for Miki at the 2020 JWSC.

Third place on the day went to another Russian rider Victoria Pukhova, who came victorious against her younger teammate Darina Klink.

Similarly to what happened in the women’s event, also on the men’s side of things it was Saturday’s PSL winner Dmitry Loginov, who doubled his gold medal tally from Lachtal by taking another impressive victory in parallel giant slalom. In the men’s final matchup Loginov bested Germany’s Ole-Mikkel Prantl for his 6th Junior World Championships title.

Prantl finished the competition in second place, while Canada’s Arnaud Gaudet rounded out the men’s podium in third place, after winning men’s small final matchup against Russia’s Vladimir Pnev.

The FIS Snowboard Junior World Championships action in Lachtal continues on Monday with parallel giant slalom team event starting at 9:30 CET.
