After a hard-fought PGS event that set the tone for 2022 on the FIS Snowboard Alpine World Cup this past Saturday in Scuol, we’re right back to action this Tuesday and Wednesday with the second parallel slalom competition of the season, as well as the first parallel slalom mixed team event, which are set to go down at the iconic venue in Bad Gastein (AUT). And straight from Bad Gastein, the tour will then travel to Simonhoehe (AUT) for another back-to-back competitions with the final parallel giant slalom competition ahead of the Olympic Winter Games on Friday, and the parallel giant slalom mixed team event following up on Saturday.

So this week the World Cup tour will see a total of four races, starting with a pair of exciting competitions at the longest-running event of any of the entire FIS Snowboard World Cup. And once again this year we can expect that the Austrian stop on tour will be one of the highlights events of the 2022/22 season.

With four PGS competitions so far in the campaign, we’ve already had a pretty good taste of where the riders recent form is. However, we know that the tighter turns suit some riders better than others and it will be interesting to see if some of the PSL specialists can step and exert their will this week.

Tuesday’s individual PSL competition will kick off at 13:15 CET with the qualification rounds, with finals coming up under the lights later in the evening, beginning at 18:40. Wednesday’s PSL Mixed Team competition will go down with final beginning at 13:00.

After two successful European Cup events in the past seasons, Simonhöhe will now hold races at the highest FIS level, joining the FIS Snowboard Alpine World Cup for the first time in 2021/22 season.

Alongside Bad Gastein, the competitions in Simonhöhe will be the second Austrian stop on snowboard alpine tour in 2021/22. The individual parallel giant slalom competition as well as the team event are scheduled to take place on 15-16th of January, wrapping up the first part of the season and acting as the final test ahead of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.

The PGS qualifications are scheduled for Friday with qualifications at 9:00 CET and finals at 14:15. The parallel giant slalom mixed team event will go down on Saturday at 9:15.
