Alexey Poltoranin is the first Kazakh on the podium since Vladimir Smirnov.
GENERAL
Poltoranin is a classical technique specialist but has done a great job in free technique in the last years
Alexey Poltoranin had a real breakthrough season last winter – four wins on the World Cup level, two bronze medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Champioships
Poltoranin was one of the favorites in the classical sprint in Val di Fiemme, but he broke his pole, the day after he and Nikolay Chebotko took bronze in the Free Technique Team Sprint.
