Coaches changes in Norway

Roar Hjelmeset decided not extend the contract with the national team, Ole Morten Iversen becomes new ladies' team head coach.

Norwegian Ski Federation has engaged Ole Morten Iversen (59) as a new national team coach for the ladies' elite Cross-Country team.

Iversen, who has been Swedish national team coach for the last two years, takes over the main responsibility from Roar Hjelmeset.

The 59-year-old was born and raised at Steinkjer. Iversen was an active cross-country runner in Henning IL, but was doing the top bet at the age of 23. The new national team coach has worked as a ski instructor / teacher for more or less for 35 years. Iversen has worked mostly on all "levels" in Norwegian cross country as a coach / teacher.

Roar Hjelmeset returns home

Roar Hjelmeset, has decided to work at his home town Hovden. He will be a coach at Skigymnaset, where he started his career in 2003. He thus ends as a national team coach at the end of May.

"I look forward to being able to work with junior skiers and at the same time work where I live," says Roar Hjelmeset. "I am pleased to have had the opportunity to work for ten years in an exciting competition and improvement environment, and of course I will miss all the good colleagues in the Ski Federation. Not least, I will miss the athletes I have followed closely over many years. I am very grateful for having the opportunity to participate in their wonderful development from junior level and to experience they taking their first World Cup and Championships medals," Hjelmeset said.
