START OF THE SPORTING CAREER

Joensson is a good football player. Until 16 years old he did both football and skiing. “In football, I could sometimes feel that I have done everything in my power for us to play a good game, yet we lost 0-6. In skiing, it was just up to me,” Joensson says.

CAREER

Joensson studied at the well known ski high school in Mora. Later on he moved to Östersund to have the best training possibilities.
World Cup debut in 2004 at the Royal City Sprint in Stockholm. First World Cup podium two years late at the same place.
Last season Joensson had a great start in the winter and scored four World Cup podiums. However, the long desired individual medal from a big events is still missing. Joensson finished in the classical sprint in Val di Fiemme in fourth place. In the team sprint with Marcus Hellner he claimed bronze medal.

PERSONAL

Joensson’s partner is Anna Haag. A few years ago they bought an apartment in Davos where they spend a lot of time.
