Galli and Siegel win Moonlight Classic in Alpe Di Siusi

Alpe di Siusi/Compaccio (BZ), 10.01.2017 – The romantic gleam of the full moon riding high in the sky accompanied the 300-plus cross-country skiers that tackled the 15 and 30 km routes in the 11th Südtirol Moonlight Classic Seiser Alm, a fantastic night-time race that unfolds against the spectacular backdrop of the Alpe di Siusi and its plateau.

The 30 km route was won by Morris Galli, who finished ahead of Riccardo Mich, while Christian Baldauf took the third step on the podium.

In the women’s grouping, Monique Siegel held sway over Antonella Confortola with Deborah Rosa finishing third.
The shorter 15 km race was dominated by Stefano Detassis who crossed the line ahead of Marco Zeni and Remo Cardini. Judith Moroder was the first woman to finish there.

A first-class success
Thanks to heavy snowfalls in recent days, entries in the Moonlight Classic topped the 300 mark. A total of 10 different nations were represented, attesting to the international draw of the Alpe di Siusi which continues to attract cross-country ski enthusiasts from abroad.
