Jens FILBRICH

• Jens Filbrich was born in a sporting family. He stood on skis for the first time at the age of 3
• At the age of 7 Filbrich joined the training center in Oberhof. He studied at the sport highschool
• Since 1997 he has been a professional Cross-Country skier.
CAREER
• First international appearance in 1998 at the FIS Junior World Ski Championships in Pontresina
• One year later, at the Junior World Championships in Saalfelden (AUT), he won two bronze medals: 10 km classic and 30 km free
• First World Cup start in 1999 in Lahti
• Two years later he competed here for the first time at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships at which he won the bronze medal in the 4x10 km relay. At the World Championships in Val di Fiemme 2003 he conquered silver in the 4x10 km relay.
• Filbrich has been a first-leg skier for Germany
• At the home World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf in 2005 he added two silver medals, team sprint free and relay, to his collection
• The only individual medal success so far took place in Sapporo 2007 where Jens Filbrich claimed the bronze medal in the Mass Start Classic
PERSONAL
• Father Wolfgang is a sports teacher and has been the head coach of the GDR biathlon team between 1984-86, mother Sigrun is a Winter Olympic Games medalist (1976 bronze relay), brother Raik is a wellness coach and football player
• Jens Filbrich’s wife Janet was a top biathlete, World Cup winner and German champion
• Their son Lennox was born 30.04.2009
• He likes snowboarding and tennis. He is a fan of the football team Bayer 04 Leverkusen
• He likes mass start competitions
• His favorite competition courses are in Val di Fiemme and Kuusamo
• His favorite training resorts are Oberhof, Ramsau, Toblach, Silvaplana and Muonio
