• Marcus Hellner started with Cross-Country skiing at an early age.
• His parents were both active in local athletics
• Hellner did a variety of sports including football and tennis but skiing was his true passion
• At the age of 13 he won a district championships in Västergötland
• He entered the ski high school in Gällivare and have lived there ever since
CAREER
• First World Cup appearance in Borlänge in March 2006
• In Canmore in 2008 he made the top 10 in an individual competition for the first time
• First World Cup win in Gällivare in the in 2008/2009 season
• Personal highlights so far gold medal at the Olympic Winter Games 2010 in skiathlon and relay, 2011 Sprint World Champion
• Double silver medalist at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in the relay in 2011 and 2013
• Second place FIS Tour de Ski 2012
PERSONAL
• In 2010 Marcus Hellner participated in the main event of the 2010 World Series of Poker
• He grew up in the south of Sweden but moved to Gällivare in the north of Sweden to have better training possibilities
• Marcus Hellner, who is by nature a calm person, is one of the people who can give it all but then can even go beyond his limits in the races
• In his honor the Cross-Country stadium in Gällivare is named after him - “Hellnerstadium”. Also the final climb on the sprint course in Oslo bears his name and is called “Hellnerbakken”.
• His hobbies are poker, hunting, and fishing
