Ola Vigen Hattestad started skiing in 1994... he competed in a World Cup sprint for the first time in Oslo in 2003... he scored first podium at the World Cup level exactly 2 years and 10 days later in Goeteborg placing third in sprint....in 2006 he competed at the Olympics finishing 9th in sprint... In 2008 he won the overall sprint World Cup ranking and defended it in 2009... his best season was in 2009 when he took two World Championship titles (sprint and team sprint) and finished third in the overall World Cup...at the 2010 Olympics he was just edged out off the podium by finishing fourth in sprint…in 2011 he took the silver medal in team sprint together with Petter Northug at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo

… Started Cross-Country skiing inspired by the Norwegian success at the Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer

...he is living in relationship with the Slovenian Cross-Country skier Katja Visnar, which is the reason for him to learn the Slovenian language

...he hates most of the buffet food on the World Cup circus

... the educated bachelor of economics likes to make holidays in the family cottage in Kornsjö, Norway

...his most favourite skiing place in Norway is Sjusjoen but he also likes to ski in Silver Star, Canada

...his motto: no pain, no gain

… his hobbies are skiing, soccer, computer, wakeboarding and telemark skiing…
