Peter Schlickenrieder new national coach for Germany

Peter Schlickenrieder (48) will become the national head coach of the German cross-country skiers for the next four years. The silver medal winner from Salt Lake City 2002 takes over the full-time job in the German Ski Association.
As national coach Schlickenrieder should primarily exercise an overall and coordinating leadership role with a focus on the World Cup teams. Andreas Schlütter, who continues to be responsible for cross-country skiing as the sports director.
The common and announced goal is to bring the German cross-country skiers back to the successful track with a view to the home World Championships 2021 in Oberstdorf and the Olympic Games 2022.
"I am perfectly aware of the fact that we have a not so easy, common way in front of us," said Peter Schlickenrieder. "There's not much time left until the next sport highlight, and we should not expect any wonders, but I'm convinced that we have a great team on both the athlete and the coaches side to tackle the tasks, so I am very happy about this new professional challenge, because I'm sure we can do a lot together as a team. "
