Successful start in Torsby

This summer's FIS Rollerski World Cup and Swedish National Cup (STS Roll Cup) started with a successful event on Friday with a short prologue in free technique. Lots of spectators among the whole course made it a really pleasant atmosphere in the village.

The youth started the races of the night, and despite a small field, top class skiing was delivered to the audience.

In the women's junior class, it was a sure win for the talented Swede Moa Hansson. Hansson showed that her two podium places from the National Championships in Helsingborg last weekend were not a coincidence. Alba Montagna (ITA) was in second place, beaten with more than four seconds. A few more seconds after, Norwegian talent Julie Henriette Arnesen finished third.

The men's junior class was a non-Nordic combat with Alexander Grigoriev (RUS) winning after a strong performance. Raimo Vigants (LAT) was second, and Italy got a podium with Angelo Buttironi’s third place finish. There were some time differences between the top three.  Johan Ekberg was the best Swedish skier, but it was a few seconds up to the podium.

In the women's class, Linn Sömskar proved again that she is hard to beat right now. The margin of victory was more than a second ahead of Jackline Lockner. Sandra Schuetzova (CZE) was third before a bunch of racers who were very close to each other.

After many years of racing, Erik Silfver claimed his first World Cup victory in the men’s class. It was, however, with today's minimum margin, only 38 hundreds of a second that separated him from Pontus Hermansson, who performed a very strong race on home ground. Surprisingly, Baptiste Noel from France claimed rank three . Noe,  who had actually ended his elite carrier showed “old good mood” in the tough class where the top 16 riders were placed within five seconds.
