„I did not know how it went after I finished the race but I saw my name on top of the list. I felt really good for the last kilometers and I am really happy to win today. Before the season started I had the dream to win this competition".Therese Johaug

Tough snow conditions challenged the athletes in multiple ways at todays 10km in classic style. Therese Johaug from Norway handled the warm weather conditions and soft snow the best and was rewarded with her second World Champion title in this years FIS Nordic World Ski Championships.

The surprise of the day was for sure Frida Karlsson from Sweden who raced to the second rank, +12.2 seconds behind Therese Johaug. The 19-year-old Karlsson could not believe what she achieved after the race when she took place in the leaders chair: „I focus on developing my skiing skills and I am very happy today".

The podium was completed by Norwegian Ingvild Flugstad Østberg who finished +35.6 seconds after Johaug and only +1.4 seconds before Finnish favourite Krista Pärmäkoski.

Johaug and Østberg received a special honor when the Norwegian royals King Harald V. and his wife congratulated them after the flower ceremony for their success. Around 10'000 spectators cheered for the athletes opening the second week of the World Championships in Seefeld 2019.

„We knew it was going to be tough conditions but we know it was the same for everyone. In the end I did not have any power left and actually I did not realize that I had the bronze medal until Therese told me at the finish line - pure happiness".Ingvild Flugstad Østberg
