Nilsson and Klæbo claim win at Davos Nordic sprint

Guided by a bluebird day and perfect snow conditions, Stina Nilsson went for gold again, as well as Johannes Høsflot Klaebo, who reported to be back after a somewhat difficult season start.
The 1.5 km sprint track of Davos is situated on 1'560 meters above sea level. An additional challenge for the competitors who just moved to central Europe after opening the FIS Cross-Country World Cup in the northern European part.
The teams were welcomed with perfectly groomed tracks, sunshine and fresh temperatures. On the ladies side, Stina Nilsson knew to suit up the conditions to her favor and went again for the 1st rank, adding up to her victory at Davos Nordic from the previous years. 0.72 seconds later, US skier Sophie Caldwell crossed the finish line, excited to be in such a good shape after having missed out on the previous 2 World Cup races due to illness. The podium got concluded by Maja Dahlqvist of Sweden who confirmed once again the strong shape of the Swedish sprint ladies team.
On the men's side, Johannes Høsflot Klæbo was obviously relieved to have pulled his strong performance through all the heats and reporting back on the World Cup stage. On his 10th race at Davos Nordic, Federico Pellegrino was pleased with his 2nd rank, although eyeing with a win over Klæbo as he later stated: „I think I am starting to be a bit old. This was my 10th race here in Davos and always passed the qualifications. I am really proud of that until now and I hope to do 10 more years and maybe I’ll beat the younger then.“
Baptiste Gros (FRA) managed to race from the "lucky looser" position to a fantastic 3rd rank, outrunning his team colleague Lucas Chanavat by just about 0.05 seconds.
