One month before Tartu marathon

Jan 18, 2019·Cross-Country
Tartu Maraton’s track on the 16th of January

Estonia’s legendary skiing marathon, Tartu Maraton, takes place in exactly one month’s time on the 17th of February. It’s wonderful to prepare for the marathon when Estonia has had the best winter in a very long time.

„Tartu Maraton’s track has been fully ready for almost a month now. The last time something like that happened was maybe in 2013. It’s vital that the skiers have great skiing conditions before the marathon,“ Race Director Indrek Kelk said.

Compared to the same time last year, nearly 1000 more skiers have registered for the race. Last year a total of 3640 people took part in the main distances (63 and 31 km, CT) and with the pre-events over 5000 skiers participated.

This year the organizers are prepared to welcome a maximum of 5000 skiers to the main distances. As of today, 3210 people are on the starting list, which means that there’s only 1790 bib numbers left. Looking at the good pace of registration, it’s only a matter of time when all 5000 spots are filled. So the organizers strongly recommend not to leave the registration to the last minute.

Start for the 46th Tartu Maraton will be given on the 17th of February. Worshiping the golden times, the marathon will also have a brand new discipline, Tartu Maraton Vintage, which will start with the main distances.

A week before, on the 10th of February, 7th Tartu Relay Marathon and Open Track races (63, 31 and 16 km) take place. More info and registration: https://tartumaraton.ee/en/events/suusamaraton/46/maraton/
