After a year as national team manager for the Swedish biathlon association and several years as an elite level coach in both Sweden and Norway, Anders Byström now returns to the Cross-Country family in the role of national team manager for Cross-Country skiing.

The 42 year-old Byström will take over the new position in the pre-season 2020. Most recently he comes from the job as national team manager for the Swedish biathlon team.

"I have had a good year with the biathlon team and have enjoyed working with all talented employees and active there, but Cross-Country skiing is my sport so I was very pleased with the offer of work with the Cross-Country team"Anders Byström

Swedens team manager Daniel Fåhræus adds: "The process of the recruiting has been handled by me with strong support from the HR manager and together with a number of people in the length organization we have selected and interviewed a number of candidates. We now agree with the final candidate that we have recommended within the group and have hired Anders Byström as the new national team manager". The team manager is very pleased with the recruitment and looks forward to the cooperation with Anders Byström.
"From a leadership perspective, Anders possesses the experience, knowledge and skills needed to take on the role. We have a consistent leadership philosophy and I am confident that we will be a good team. He has also worked as a journalist for some time, which can be helpful in his work as national team manager for an adapted national team. We would like to warmly welcome him to the length organization at the Swedish Ski Association," Fåhraeus says.

Anders Byström himself competed in Cross-Country skiing in his youth. He began his working career as a coach at Torsby ski gym and also has a background within SSF as a training manager and coach for the junior national team. In 2013 he left the union and has since been working on the Swedish biathlon with five years as national team coach within the Norwegian biathlon. Now Anders looks forward to returning to SSF.
"I'm very happy that I get this chance. It feels fun that the Swedish Ski Association wants me as such an important piece in the development of the Cross-Country team. Daniel and I will work as a team to put our mark on the leadership and together create a sense of security in the organization," says Anders Byström.

He will take up the post of national team manager on May 1, but will until then be involved in planning for the upcoming season.
