  • Never before have three different Swedish skiers won an individual sprint event in a single World Cup season.

  • Jonna Sundling could become the third Swedish woman to win three individual sprint World Cup events, after Stina Nilsson (18) and Hanna Falk (4).

  • Swedish skiers claimed five of the six podium finishes in the individual sprint World Cup events in Dresden (both freestyle, 2018, 2019). Last season, Stina Nilsson won ahead of Maja Dahlqvist and Sundling.

  • Dahlqvist (2nd in 2018 and 2019) is the only female skier to claim multiple individual sprint podium finishes in Dresden.

  • Maiken Caspersen Falla has won 20 individual sprint World Cup events, joint-second most among women alongside Petra Majdic. Only Marit Bjørgen (40) has won more.

  • Falla has claimed 50 podium finishes in individual sprint World Cup events, second-most all-time among women after Bjørgen (60).

  • Sophie Caldwell is the only non-Swedish skier to claim a podium finish in an individual sprint event in Dresden, as she finished third on 13 January 2018.

  • Twelve of Pellegrino's 13 sprint World Cup victories came in freestyle events.

  • Pellegrino is the only male skier who could win an individual sprint World Cup event in each of the last six seasons.

  • Lucas Chanavat is the only skier besides Johannes Høsflot Klæbo to win a men's individual sprint World Cup event this season. Chanavat won the sprint freestyle in Planica on 21 December.

Sunday, 12th January 2020 - Team Sprint

Women

  • Sweden has won seven of the last eight women's team sprint World Cup events, including each of the last five. The only exception in this run was a win by Russia in Toblach (freestyle) on 15 January 2017.

  • The only country to win more successive women's team sprint events in the World Cup is Norway: seven wins in a row from October 2003 to December 2004.

  • Sweden (9) could become the second country to win 10 women's team sprint events in the World Cup, after Norway (15).

  • Norway has won the most women's team sprint events in the World Cup (15), but have failed to win the last eight sprint events. It already is the longest winless run for Norway in women's team sprint events.

  • The last victory for a Norwegian team was in Nové Mesto na Morave on 12 January 2014, when Maiken Caspersen Falla and Ingvild Flugstad Østberg won the classic event.

  • In Planica on 22 December, Laurien van der Graaff and Nadine Fähndrich finished in third place in the women's team sprint event to claim the first ever podium finish for Switzerland in the women's team sprint.

  • Van der Graaff and Fähndrich finished in seventh (2018) and fifth (2019) place respectively in the team sprint events in Dresden.

  • The only podium finish for a Slovenian duo in a women's team sprint World Cup event was on 24 January 2010, when Katja Višnar and Vesna Fabjan finished second in Rybinsk (freestyle).

  • United States has won one women's team sprint event in the World Cup: Jessica Diggins and Kikkan Randall in Quebec (freestyle) on 7 December 2012.

  • Russia's last podium finish in a women's team sprint World Cup event was the win by Yulia Belorukova and Natalia Matveeva in Toblach (freestyle) on 15 January 2017.

Men

  • Norway has won each of the last three men's team sprint World Cup events, since a fifth-place finish in Dresden on 14 January 2018.

  • Norway could become the second country to win four consecutive men's team sprint World Cup events. Italy won the first four team sprint events in the World Cup from January 2002 to February 2003.

  • In total, Norway has won 13 men's team sprint events in the World Cup, at least three more than any other country (Russia follows on 10).

  • Norway has claimed a 1-2 finish in the last three men's team sprint World Cup events, including in Dresden on 13 January 2019.

  • Sindre Bjørnestad Skar was the only Norwegian skier to be involved in each of these three 1-2 finishes: winning alongside Erik Valnes in Dresden (13 January 2019) and Planica (22 December 2019) and finishing in second place with Eirik Brandsdal in Lahti on 10 February 2019.

  • Russia could become the third country to record at least 20 podium finishes in the men's team sprint World Cup events, after Norway (36) and Sweden (20).

  • Finland recorded podium places in the last two men's team sprint World Cup events: third places in Planica (Ristomatti Hakola/Joni Mäki) and Lahti (Iivo Niskanen/Ristomatti Hakola_)._

  • Switzerland finished fourth in the two men's team sprint World Cup events in Dresden, both by Jovian Hediger and Roman Schaad. Switzerland has never reached the podium in a men's team sprint event in the World Cup.
