Eva Urevc out for 2019/20 season
Jun 20, 2019·Cross-CountrySlovenia's answer to Marit Bjørgen and the Cross-Country sports probably strongest woman, Eva Urevc (23), will not come to the starting line next season.
Cross-Country skier Eva Urevc (23) showed enormous speed resources in the ski track this past season with multiple strong performances, such as when she won the sprint prologue in the World Cup in Lahti with crazy 4.21 seconds, a margin largely only Johannes Høsflot Klæbo has been close to in recent years.
Slovenia's national team coach Ola Vigen Hattestad then told Dagbladet the storyof a tremendous talent that with the right grips could get the same tremendous development in sprint long races as equally muscular and explosive Marit Bjørgen achieved in the same age.
But the recent bad news change the plans of the Slovenian.
Eva Urevc has to undergo a surgery in August and thus will stay away during the entire 2019/20 season.
The Cross-Country skierhit an old knee injury last week that she has been struggling with for many years. A surgery seems to be the only way out.
"Last week I hurt my knee badly during an exercise. After that I have struggled. It's not very bad, but bad enough that it limits my training. When I got new knee complaints last week, I decided to put an end to this", says the 23-year-old to Dagbladet. "Unfortunately, this means that I have to stay out over the next season. I know I will be able to come back because I am surrounded by the people I love and those who support me".
Eva Urevc resembles Marit Bjørgen in her fitness and physical shape. "Eva is extremely explosive, strong and muscular", said Slovenia's national team coach Ola Vigen Hattestad to Dagbladet about the comet Eva Urevc (23) this winter.
