A demanding format met a demanding track on todays mens Skiathlon in Lillehammer.

The second World Cup stop in Lillehammer (NOR) awaited the distance experts of the FIS Cross-Country family. Last seasons Distance World Cup winner Alexander Bolshunov made up what he missed last weekend in Ruka and took the victory before Norwegian Hans Christer Holund and Emil Iversen. The trio not only fought hard to secure the gap to the following group but also all had their eyes set on the win. Emil Iversen was cut off the group during the last long final climb. Bolshunov sprinted away of Holund on the last part of the hill, securing the top position and finishing at 1:17:42h (Holund +2.2, Iversen +7.9, Klæbo +57.4)

With the consistent results, Emil Iversen takes the lead in the Distance World Cup ranking. Overall World Cup leader remains Johannes Høsflot Klæbo.

Emil Iversen

„I had to fight for the last 15km I think so skating up there the 4th time it felt like the hill was too long for me. But there were also good skaters that did not manage to follow so I have to be happy with my 3rd spot today."

Hans Christer Holund

„Last night I was most nervous about the Classic so I was concentrating to be with the strong guys. Its a real hard track so I have to use my strenght which is capacity."

Alexander Bolshunov

„I am still not in the best shape that I could be. It was the same as in Seefeld where I followed Hans Christer Holund but could not manage to take him. I am happy that I managed that today."
