Helsinki Ski Weeks 2021 announced at Olympic Stadium
Mar 26, 2020·Cross-CountryNewly renovated on January 26, 2021, the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki will be the scene of a world-class Cross-Country sprint competition.
The event, organized by the Finnish Ski Association's commercial company Nordic Ski Finland and its main partner, the city of Helsinki, will be used for skiing and for a month will also offer a local sports center in the middle of the city.
Helsinki Ski Weeks, January 25th - February 28th, 2121, is set to kick off with the sprint on January 26th. The sprint circuit is built around the Olympic Stadium and its surroundings. The sprint race is scheduled to fit into the competition calendar on Tuesday after the Salpausselkä race. This will allow international competitors to take part in the event in the midst of an intense World Cup tour. The list of participants will be filled with the top of the world, including the Finnish Cross-Country Ski Team Topics and future stars.
Krista Pärmäkoskiis already looking forward to the event: “It has been a long-awaited event of this kind and it is great that now not only an invitation race will be held, but the track will remain at the disposal for everyone in the capital. The course will definitely activate schools and companies to organize sports days! It is unique to be able to ski at the legendary Olympic Stadium."
The event will be televised in Finland by Yle. In his role as a media partner, Yle broadcasts live coverage of the Stadion Sprint event as well as the wider atmosphere and content of the Helsinki Ski Weeks event.
Ticket sales for the event will begin in the autumn.
