The second competition day of the mini tour at Ruka Nordic was supported by a great crowd of spectators. And the Finnish crowd was rewarded with podium spots of their top athletes. Krista Pärmäkoski could not break the dream run of winner Therese Johaug but happily took the second rank +30 seconds behind. The third rank was taken by Russian Natalia Nepryaeva who tried to make  the gap to the leaders smaller during the second round, finally ending up +44.4 seconds behind Johaug.

Yesterday's third placed Sadie Maubet-Bjornsen missed the podium by only 1.3 seconds but due to stable results took over the OVERALL WORLD CUP LEAD.

Missed the podium by 1 painfully close second, but walked away with the yellow @fiscrosscountry World Cup overall leader bib, so no complaints. The season is still young, but I will save this bib forever, and hope to meet it again one day. I have also been told I’m the first American woman to wear the overall yellow bib, so cheers to setting new highs for even more exciting times to come 💃🏻 📸: @nordicfocus

Therese Johaug
«I am really happy to be back on the top of the podium again. Krista was starting 30 seconds in front of me so I saw her and I tried to push myself so in the second round we went together. Of course I know that I have the preassure to go well tomorrow on my but I know that I need good skis and a good shape. But this day was really important for the mini tour and now I have a good chance to fight for the first place in the overall tomorrow.»

Krista Pärmäkoski
«I am happy with my result and for sure Theresa helped me  and I think when Terese got to me she helped me in the last kilometers and I felt that I was quite fast in the downhill and the flat part but she is so so good in the uphill and I just had to stay behind her.»

Natalia Nepryaeva
«I am very happy with the result despite I was not so fast on the first lap but in the second lap I reached my maximum speed and could close the gap to the leaders.»
