CSA's new Roller Skiing development committee

On 9th August, the Chinese Ski Association (CSA) announced in Beijing that a new Roller Skiing Development Committee has been founded to promote and develop the sport of Roller Skiing in China. Moses Zheng, Vice Chairman of CSA was elected to be Director and will head the committee.

13 members from various regions will participate in the new committee that includes representatives from regional associations, enterprises, clubs and colleges.

"The establishment of the Roller Skiing Committee comes at the right time, as Roller Skiing is one of the best ways to practice Cross-Country skiing in summer time, allowing people to have one more way to stay fit. The variety of the committee members will enable us to motivate a wide range of people to participate in the sport and lay a solid foundation in the direction of Chinese snow sport development", Executive Deputy Director Ding Dong of the Chinese Winter Sports Administration said.

Committee Director Zheng added: “We will focus on promoting the Roller Skiing sport in a new way, by attaching Roller Skiing to popular city running marathons throughout China. The races shall be transmitted on TV and thus increase the visibility of the sports. We will also focus on the education of the coaches and organising series of youth Roller Skiing competitions."

As the most important training method of Cross-Country skiing in summer time, Roller Skiing has started entering China in the recent years. In July 2019, a first FIS Roller Skiing World Cup was successfully organised in Beijing. The second Chinese Youth National Summer Games; and 14th China National Winter Games have also included Roller Skiing as one of disciplines.
