For the past 3 days of the Lausanne 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games, Maerta Rosenberg has shown her versatilty as a Cross-Country skier. She took silver in the womens Cross-Country Cross and bronze in the Sprints. But the magical gold alluded the 17 year old Swede. Until now.

Todays 5km Womens Individual Classic will go down as a highlight in Maerta's history books. Starting in bib 77, Rosenberg showed no signs of fatigue from the past three days of compeition. On the first split she lead Switzerlands Siri Wigger by 9sec. At the 2nd split the difference grew to 14sec and whilst she lost a little time in the final kilometer the difference was minimal and Rosenberg crossed the line 12.7sec ahead of Siri Wigger (SUI) and 20.6sec ahead of Kendall Kramer (USA) who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.

“Now I have three colours of medal – gold, silver and bronze. That’s a super-good combo,” said Rosenberg

Wigger added “It was my race to win, but second is OK,” she said. “It’s been an amazing week.”

The conclusion of the womens individual leaves only the Mixed Nordic Relay. Tune into FIS Cross-Country for all the results and news.
