In the womens 10km C Mass start, the current U23 leader, and last years winner of the Sprint World Cup, Linn Svahn was surrounded by the worlds elite distance skiers. Nevertheless, the young Swede impressively paced the big distance stars around the two loops of the Classic course in Falun. Especially Therese Johaug (NOR) was up for the challenge in breaking away from the leading group but despite strong efforts, was caught up by the successors in the downhill and gliding sections.

The stage was set for an exciting final as the athletes remained side by side, challenging each other for the favourable positions for the last stretch to the finish line. At the point of attack before the final downhill into the stadium, Therese Johaug started in first position but Linn Svahn overtook in elegant manner with seemingly fantastic material on her feet, leaving Johaug work her way up to the Swede again. The duo was followed by Katharina Hennig and the two Russian team members Yana Kirpichenko and Yulia Stupak.

All cards were open until the finish line but Linn Svahn did not give her victory away and sprinted into the finish before Yulia Stupak and Therese Johaug. Svahn becomes the first ever Swedish female athletes to win a Classic distance competition on home soil in Falun.
