Previously, the coaching team of the Swedish national team for the upcoming season have been presented. Today it was time for the last piece of the puzzle to fall into place, the medical support.

Daniel Fåhraeus and national team manager Anders Byström have built their team slowly but surely. However, one thing has remained, the medical team. Daniel flagged in interviews that he wanted to "develop Swedish sports medicine through new ways of working" in order to optimize the conditions for the riders. This would be done through reduced personal dependence on the medical team. Today he explained his ideas and solutions in detail.

Instead of an established team of named persons on different posts, the team has signed a cooperation agreement with the GHP Sports Center, which now has overall responsibility for both the Swedish Cross-Country and Roller Skiers. The collaboration also means that an "old acquaintance" will return to the business. The CEO and founder of the GHP Sports Center is the former Cross-Country team physician, Per "Pliggen" Andersson.

"After almost four months of work to build the new organization around the national team, it feels both safe and exciting that Per is back. It is also a whole new idea that a clinic is now getting the overall grip on the medical support device," says length manager Daniel Fåhraeus.

The agreement includes that GHP Sports Center will allocate physical resources at the three designated elite environments in Falun, Umeå and Östersund in order to support the riders on site.

"We are very pleased to be able to have such a comprehensive safety net for the elite active in our national team. With this system we get an effective organization that can prevent, catch and treat ill health and any injuries quickly, and which has a huge competence," says national team manager Anders Byström.

Per "Duty" Andersson belonged to the Swedish length organization 2013–2018 and during these years experienced many Swedish successes.

"I'm really enthusiastic about getting back to the length business! When I left almost two years ago, it was to be able to put all the time and effort into the GHP Sports Center. We have a broad competence with most specialists. Together we will do everything to support the riders and lay the foundation for continued Swedish success," says Pliggen, who in addition to the clinic is also linked to SOK as a physician for Sweden's Olympic participants.
