We don't know, which races we can visit this winter. But we know, that there will be a lot virtual race formats. Worldloppet unites them to one league! Who will be called "Virtual Racer" after this season?

As the voice of popular skiing, we need to face the fact, that the winter 2021 will be effected by COVID19 somehow. Travel restrictions, lockdowns, distancing, limitations... Problems, our race organizers have to deal with. The organizers came up with one answer to this situation: The virtual race format. The idea is simple. The participants do their race where ever they are, track it with a sportswatch and upload their result.

During summer and autumn we experienced the first virtual races. The KangarooHoppet Do It Your Way was a best practice example. Also Ushuaialoppet, Merino Muster and Fossavatnsgangan organized such a virtual event. And many more will follow.

This is why Worldloppet came up with the Virtual Racing League. With this league, we combine all virtual race events organized by Worldloppet member races to one big event. Just like it is known from the Worldloppet Passport & Master's system, the athletes enter several races. Once they have finished 7 virtual races, they can claim the Virtual Racertitle. A diploma, a special T-Shirt & prizes from partners like Northug Eyewear are waiting for all who achieve the title.

What is Virtual racing?

How to join the Virtual Racing League?

The participation of Virtual Racing is for free. Everybody who wants to be part of the game has to log in to the MyLoppet registration system on the Worldloppet website & of course has to participate in the different virtual races (organized by Worldloppet member races). After participating in 7 races, Worldloppet will hand out the title Virtual Racer! Click here to register for the virtual racing league.
